I've only actually ever been in a crowded bar once, so your instincts serve you well. And that one time was a gay bar with a female friend and her gay male friend. We watched a drag queen contest. None of the gay guys tried to hit on me though, and the gay male friend said it was because they could sense these things. I haven't been back to a crowded bar since.
Empty bars though, bring 'em on. The emptier and alcohol-less the better.
Yet not in an empty bar, oddly enough. Maybe when I'm thinking of you in an empty bar, it's because I'm imagining you trekking across the American West on a ghost town saloon tour.
