Morello is a political activist; I think it would be dishonest for him to accept the endorsement of someone whose politics are diametrically opposed to his.


It's hardly an endorsement, my favorite musician is Sting, who has been very politically active, and mostly not in the same vein as myself, I'd be pretty hurt if I became a public figure, mentioned in some puff piece or whatever that I loved his work, and got a nasty remark over it. Of course that would be pretty weird from him anyway.

That said, something like

Well I obviously disagree with his politics, but I'm not in the habit of making nasty remarks about my fans. I hope he keeps listening and maybe he'll hear my message."

would work.

That said, he's an entertainer, not a politician, so being polite is by no means a requirement.


Well no, it's not required of you or I either but somehow we manage to do it anyway, so do most people. And seriously, if he wants his political ideas to find a home outside a small swath of the demographic that votes the least he might want to take some time to practice the fine art of not being a prick.
