The video says his comments were 2 Feb, 2008, when the plant was open;when he took office it was not - Edit 3

The argument wasn't that Obama caused the plant close, a fact the opinion heavy fact checkers seem to have missed, the argument is that Obama told the people at the plant that with government help the plant could be retooled and kept open making energy efficient cars for the next hundred years. Ryan never said Obama caused the plant to close, some journalist playing at fact checker decided that is what he meant. Ryan was even clear to it was candidate Obama who had made them statement which should make it clear he was talking about broken campaign promises. The only thing Ryan said that was factually incorrect, you like fact checkers are supposed to be checking for, is that Obama didn't actually promises to keep the plant open he simply implied that he would. When fact checkers become opinion givers, which is what they became when the decided what they thought Ryan was implying, then why even call them fact checkers anymore especially when liberal rags like the Tampa Times is funding them and their fact checkers come from the same journalist school of thought who believe the only thing wrong with saying republicans like party while black people drown is doing it front of a hot mic.

So I was wrong about when he made the comment: Not June '08, when the closure was planned, nor October '08, when it was announced, nor even December '08, when the pink slips were mailed, but months earlier, February '08, nearly a year before he took office. Expecting Candidate Obama to prevent an act that occurred while he was still on the campaign trail, before he was even elected, much less inaugurated, is expecting too much. AT MOST he could only have re-opened the plant, IF he "bought GM" and took control of it as you falsely contend.

He could not save what was already lost and never promised he would. Maybe if he had been president in '08 the government support he spoke of would have saved the plant as he pledged, but he was not so it could not. By the the time he WAS president the plant was gone and could not be retroactively saved. Sorry "reality has a well known liberal bias."
