Former Super Bowl champions and current "elite" quarterbacks Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Ben Roethlisberger should be benched, according to RAFO's Dark Knight. Dark Knight sites the Tony Romo rule, where any QB who isn't clutch sucks and needs to be immediately benched.

Drew Brees, who last year broke Dan Marino's record for most passing yards in a single season, threw a costly interception at the end of the Redskins game, when the Saints had a chance to drive the field and tie the game. The Redskins scored and put the game out of reach. Clearly this QB sucks, nevermind his previous Super Bowl title. His backup, Chase Daniels, would suck even more, but at least the games won't be close, thus sparing him from having the opportunity to prove that he would blow games at the end.

Aaron Rodgers, widely regarded as the best QB in the league, proved the exact opposite, as he failed to lead his Green Bay Packers down to the field to tie the game against the San Fransico 49ers. Rodgers had plenty of time for a game-tying drive but had to settle for throwing up a 4th down hail mary that fell incomplete. Roders, the Super Bowl MVP just 2 seasons ago, showed why he needs immediate benching, as all "elite" QBs ALWAYS lead their team to victory on game winning drives. He couldn't even get a first down to extend the drive!

Ben Roethlisberger, two time Super Bowl champion, showed why championships are overrated last night against the Denver Broncos. Down by 6, and with 3 minutes left, Roethlisberger failed to lead the Steelers to victory against a defense that had been unable to stop him before the final drive. Instead of scoring the winning touchdown, Roethlisberger instead chose to give the ball to the Broncos, who were happy to accept the gift as they returned the ill-timed interception for a game-sealing touchdown.

Thus, according to the standards set for Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys, these QBs need to be immediately replaced, as it's clear from their non-clutchness that they will always choke in the big moment. Of course, their replacements will probably never get their teams to be in a position for a game winning drive as often as the "elite" QBs they replaced, but that's neither here nor there.
