Good assessment; I was scared spitless Biden would break out the gaffe machine. - Edit 1

Republicans saw Biden as a lying sack of shit (which he is), and Democrats saw Ryan as a weaselly liar.

Based on the polling, independents didn't really like either of them, felt that Biden "won" but were put off by his arrogant and rude demeanor. Even so, the numbers were split far closer to the national split in terms of who "won", which says that this debate was probably not going to change much.

I do have to admit Biden did better, at times, than I thought he would.

He was too overbearing, yes, which denied him the laurels he would otherwise have won from Ryans steadfast refusal to explain how he will make 1-1=5, but said nothing to prompt jaw-dropping incredulity.

I still do not see how any rational person can tolerate Romney and Ryans insistence they will raise federal revenue AND cut taxes. Most federal revenue is taxes; xy so it is mathematically impossible to lower either while raising the other. OK, maybe the Magical Supply-Side Fairy comes along with massive economic growth so personal income goes up MORE than taxes (or maybe not; it is all speculative, but there is a first time for everything, I guess. ) Regardless, a net reduction in personal income taxes means a net reduction in federal revenue. We either cut revenue or raise taxes; we cannot avoid BOTH mutually exclusive things.
