)Technically, NFL and SECAA footballs have a range of regulation length, but the upper bound is 11½ inches. "Gridiron" is a particularly useful term in Australia, since it is generally understood and distinguishes the game from soccer, both forms of rugby and Aussie rules. Otherwise, what Legolas said.
