As I wrote to another friend on FB,

Fact: White people, as a share of the voting population, continue to decline.
Fact: According to the WSJ, Romney lost by almost 40 percentage points among Hispanics, by almost 50 points among Asians and by about 80 points among Black people.

Auguste Comte said it best, "Demographics is destiny". Oh sure, a person can swing things here and there but by and large the statement holds. And while the Republican leadership continue to alienate the fastest growing segments in the population with their exclusionary policies, they will find it increasingly hard to win elections on the national stage. They need a paradigm shift - i.e. give up their reactionary policies on immigration and remember that their own revered Reagan reached a compromise that led to amnesty for the illegal immigrants in the US in the 80s.

Good points all. Somehow I don't really think they'll take them to heart any time soon, though... - 07/11/2012 08:00:56 PM 901 Views

Chris Christie *was* far more likely. I expect his party to eat him alive after Sandy. - 07/11/2012 09:59:17 PM 972 Views
Yes, but Christie gained the respect of a lot of moderates for that. - 07/11/2012 10:20:08 PM 803 Views
Moderates don't vote in the primaries *NM* - 07/11/2012 10:21:50 PM 433 Views
Enough of them vote to ensure a Christie victory in a GOP primary. - 08/11/2012 05:09:24 AM 786 Views
