I maintain that Mark Warner will get the nod next time around Jragghen Send a noteboard - 07/11/2012 09:57:21 PM
Former governor of VA, left office with a 70% approval rating. Went on to win the Senate seat there in '08 by a sizable margin (roughly 2:1). Genuine self-made rich person (first guy in his family to go to college and was one of the initial investors/founders of Nextel).

There was the possibility that he might have run in '08, but his daughters were of an age where he didn't want to expose them to the campaign scrutiny. That's no longer an issue.

I'm not being hyperbolic in saying that his example is pretty much entirely why Kaine got elected governor in '06 (along with Webb for Senate), and didn't play a small part in Obama's election in '08. If he ran for the Presidency, Virginia would be an outright lock - there's not even an in-state Republican politician who could challenge him there.

Good points all. Somehow I don't really think they'll take them to heart any time soon, though... - 07/11/2012 08:00:56 PM 901 Views

Biden hinted he was thinking about running. But he looks older, so that might benefit her. - 07/11/2012 09:18:49 PM 834 Views

Snowe? Seriously? Chris Christie is far more likely. - 07/11/2012 09:52:25 PM 810 Views
Chris Christie *was* far more likely. I expect his party to eat him alive after Sandy. - 07/11/2012 09:59:17 PM 972 Views
Yes, but Christie gained the respect of a lot of moderates for that. - 07/11/2012 10:20:08 PM 803 Views

Enough of them vote to ensure a Christie victory in a GOP primary. - 08/11/2012 05:09:24 AM 786 Views
