They give me all the empty claims of virtue based on winning popularity contests any sane man could want. Even the other levels of college football have a playoff tournament; when Division 1A does the same I will start caring, because talent, skill and performance will trump popularity and legacy (and in college ball the latter is mainly an extended case of the former.)
