View original post1. It wasn't good. It was a sloppy ending that showed Jordan never really knew where he was going with the series; he just had a fun "scene" in his head and that was it. After Book 6 the series went downhill and, although a few good things happened after that, I think Wheel of Time will fade from prominence (barring a rich, crazy fan self-funding a TV series or something).

One of my biggest complaints is that I spent time bothering to remember secondary and tertiary characters that never meant anything. I can't say whether they were forgotten or they were never going to be a part of the story anyway, but I guess that falls under "sloppy."
View original post2. I'm trying to hack away at a long list of things I started but didn't finish for various reasons. I started the lais of Marie de France in conjunction with my grammar/textbook of Old French (just finished the latter recently), I just read a book about Mussolini's Italy through the conquest of Ethiopia (just finished, very interesting), I read Er ist wieder da, which will soon be available in English and for which I posted a review here and on Facebook, and when I'm done with Marie de France I just might finish Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age, but while it was good reading when I was stuck on jury duty, I'm not really thrilled with it.

Just pick one already! (I can't say much, I've got about six started.)
View original post3. I just watched the first four seasons of Breaking Bad. Loved it. It looks like I might have to pay to watch the first half of Season 5, though.

We're gonna go for it too. The recommendations are too good for me to feel like passing it up.
