I have to say this notion of making Thatcher's funeral one big Falklands War memorial was in very poor taste imho. And Thatcher's children making a fuss about not wanting Argentines there - I'm personally inclined to say Mark Thatcher should be rather more of a persona non grata than any representative of the Argentinian government, and it was rude to deny them a chance to display their goodwill, should they have chosen to (which I'll grant you I kind of doubt; Cristina Kirchner isn't above using that sort of thing to improve her popularity any more than Thatcher was).

It certainly says a lot about the UK's troubled relationship with its recent history that a conflict as insignificant as the Falklands War should've had the impact it had, and if it's up to some will continue to have. I was reading a pretty good article in the Economist, hardly a Thatcher-hating source, which neatly summarized how Thatcher has had a number of very lucky breaks without which she wouldn't have lasted long enough to make too much of an impact on history, and none more so than the Falklands War.

Sorry, probably preaching to the choir here, you had a pretty good post, just one mention too many of the Falklands.
