It does not matter the political ideology. The fact that one of the most powerful arms of the federal government is targeting a political ideology for persecution is horrifying. The fact that the executive branch is trying to convince everyone that they were A: blameless, B: uninformed, C: well they did it too & D: It is no big deal because nobody really got hurt is disgusting.

It isn't just the increased scrutiny of groups seeking tax exempt status based solely on their political ideology, it is also IRS officials providing those same applications to an extreme liberal pseudo-news organization funded by George Soros. It is also the probable IRS persecution of individuals who are media personalities (TV commentators, writers, talk show hosts, etc.) who happen to be conservatives or critical of the US tax structure.

This stinks to high heaven. The IRS is an extremely powerful (perhaps too powerful) organization. If accused by them you are literally guilty until proven innocent. They MUST be held accountable.
