I think there are conflicting reports out there. Another law enforcement officer apparently said they were only going 40-45. Actually it's believable that this car would get wrecked the way it did even at 45; a large part of the car is made out of composites.
Anyway, the car apparently has a black box so that info will eventually confirm what speed they were going and other details.
A law enforcement official familiar with the crash investigation told NBC News on Monday that the car was traveling at approximately 40 to 45 mph when it came to a bend in the road where the speed limit drops to about 15 mph. The five-lane road has warning signs for drivers advising them to slow down as they approach the uphill curve where the accident happened.
