However, I do think the US sports system is by far superior to what's going on in Europe.

It's something I sometimes like to say at work to attract reactions, but I think the European sports system is not much more than amateur. Even the Champions League.

American sports are so much better because of capitalism. The first idea is, "how do we make money off this thing ?" so they start a draft to even the playing field because competition is what draws in crowds. There is no league in Europe as balanced as the NFL or NBA. It's socialism at the service of capitalism. And most teams make money.

In Europe, most teams lose money, and nothing ever changes. It's always the same top teams. Things only change if some team like Chelsea becomes a toy for some billionaire. Who wants to watch that ?
