Those were both wars that were created by sensationalist press. There are multiple examples of other internal conflict that were fanned by the press. Segregation was press fed in a large part. Truman was bullied into allowing McCarthy to act like a king in Korea by people calling him an appeaser and claiming he was soft on the commies. Read that piss poor excuse for a poem some posted, over the top political rhetoric is hardly new.
Simply sating that there is more instant coverage of politics in no ways proves that coverage is more inflammatory it just means it is more instant. Yes you can now get news quicker but the average American still can't name his congressman. And must of them only pay attention to the stories with sex or the ones they think affect them directly. I see this as nothing more then the left making excuses for the inept way they have failed in communicating their agenda.
The left rode the wave of partisan attack into power. Cheered on by people such as yourself who delighted in promoting stories about senators tapping their feet in bathroom stalls and by claiming that Bush was an evil insane gnome and now they cry because the beast has turned on them. WTF did they think was going to happen?
