I think Facebook took a lot of the wind out of the sails even there towards the end because people were getting older, moving on, etc., and with the series ending newer people stopped going there in the first place.

Retool the site a bit as a more general book club and get every geeky book lover we know to start frequenting the site and see what happens. At that point things can get lively again.
