My grandfather died before I was born, after struggling with alcoholism his entire life.

My father died before his first grandchild was born, after several drunk driving arrests, a 9-month prison stint for the fourth one which caused him to lose his very nice position in management in his local, two divorces, and all the associated legal and custody problems.

I would like to meet my grandchildren, and be able to be there for my children.

No alcohol for me. I don't mind that others in my life drink, but my fiance would tell you that she drinks a lot less since we've been together. Mostly because I'm not available to share a bottle of wine. Then again, she always has a designated driver if she wants one.
