TO be honest I don't think it matters who wins the nomination as long as it is not Trump. The fringe of the party (I refuse to call them base) have decided that if their 10% of population can't get everything they want they will do enough damage to the party that the dems will win. In the long run getting rid of the crazies will be good for the party but it will kill us this cycle.

With the rebellion in the party and crazy websites like The Daily Caller and Red Meat aging them on the republicans need to be worried about holding the senate and how state legislatures they can hold unto.
