So, my wife wants to start watching it since the reviews have been so good. The first season is over. Has anyone watched it? If yes, thoughts?

There is a big twist which is not much of a twist if you pay attention (SPOILER one of the plot lines is a flashback, not concurrent with the others! ), and one of the critics I read regularly (NJ's own Alan Sepinwall) who was basically masturbating to it every week started to get exasperated at the fat chick stories and was disappointed by the finale. The last show I recall him being so high on the first season and so bummed by the finale was Heroes.
No hobbits, wizards, dragons, magical islands, etc.
OR explosions!
But is does sound like a well written and thoughtful show.
You mean one with its head so far up its own ass it can chew food twice.
I guess I have to throw her a bone every now and then! 
While it is generally assumed married people do that sort of thing, most of us find it distastefull and indiscreet to freely discuss your intimate relations. She is joined to you in one flesh, you don't need to be so crudely disrespectful of the mechanics of that joining.
