Haven't had the pleasure of that one yet. But a nearby neighbor needed a water main replaced, totally sucked. I guess it is not covered by homeowners insurance since it is technically not in the home, right?

The standard policy only covers inside the house. So if they had to dig up my cellar to fix the pipe, that would be covered. Water main in and sewer main out are only covered if you have an addition to your standard policy or if the water and sewer company offers coverage.
