Do you know which MOS you want? Have you considered being a Marine instead of a doggy? 
I am too old for the Marines, I will be 34 when I join, a real gramps I am sure. Honestly, though I think someone has to desire more than joining the service to be a Marine, they have to want to be a Marine, if you know what I mean. I have the utmost respect for them though, really all the branches. Each branch to me is best at what they do.
