Why? Two reasons.
1) The Japanese are very involved with the tech / gaming scene, and drive a lot of the innovation. There are a lot of games and products released over there that never make it to the States. I'd love to be a part of that for a while.
2) The Japanese are absolutely nuts.
Check out some of the game shows they get. Check out some of the quirky restaurants and food they have. Everything I've read from people who have gone over there say that there's something you've never seen before on every corner. Even taking exaggeration into account, I think there's a lot of really weird, crazy, hilarious stuff that I'd very much like to see.

The craziness would be cool to check out, but I'm really intrigued by the calm, quiet, religious side. I have to get there some day, specifically for the architecture, scenery and gardens(!).
