Another Rafonaut basically scared me into going to the doctor by mentioning the risk to pregnant women.
I really hope you don't contract it at all, and if you should happen to, that it passes quickly and with no complications.
Also, yeah, those numbers are huge - can I ask what state you live in, and what the 65,000 number is a proportion of? (I mean, what the whole number of students would be.)

Also, yeah, those numbers are huge - can I ask what state you live in, and what the 65,000 number is a proportion of? (I mean, what the whole number of students would be.)I was actually on the fence about it for awhile, as I am naturally mistrustful of government agencies and "quick fixes" that have been crammed through the system. HOWEVER, I also believe in listening when the universe (or God, or guardian angels, or whatever you prefer) are trying to tell me something, and for several days just before I ended up getting vaccinated there were just too many coincidences to shrug off. Also, I have switched my ob/gyn now that I'm expecting my second child, and I REALLY like her and trust her judgment, and she has been asking all her patients to please get the vaccination. So, I did it.
As for the ratio of total students to ill students, I admit I have no clue what percentage 65,000 would be. I CAN tell you, however, that an elementary student in Okla City died from H1N1 on Monday, making 18 total deaths statewide thus far.

I think I've had it. Symptoms seemed to match, anyway.

I suspect that working at a hospital gives you a rather biased sample of the populace. *NM*

According to the CDC, on average 36,000 die from the flu each year in the US.

I think the worry is just that it's more contagious, which would be bad if a fiercer strain
