Every other forum on the internet allows at least hyperlinking, and most of them allow images, too. It's really not that hard to police.

Granted, I can see why our benevolent webmaster would be hesitant to tackle the technical issues of open-ended italics tags and the like, since this IS a custom system. But still. It's a feature we lack and it'd be nice to have.

And if you're worried about intentional abuse, well, it's not that bad. I've moderated forums with ten thousand pre-pubescent Zelda fans posting every day, and we managed to keep the giant penis pictures to a minimum. And the behavior here is pretty much heaven compared to that


Obviously, giving total html access has some security risks, which is why you'd use an alternative, like the standard bbcode. We're also the only forum on the internet that uses html-style brackets (<, > ) for our formatting.
