One of the worst smells I ever came across, was a chicken blood swamp that my buddy's civil engineering company had built for a local processing plant. It was a "green" system where the chicken blood and water flowed from one pond to another in a terraced system, while being aerated with fountains. It was a lengthy process, but chicken blood went into one end and clean water came out, using only enzymes and oxygen to clean the bloody water.

I think about this while i'm eating my scrambled eggs, with salsa.
