Hmmm...maybe it is time to turn this into a survey.
We now have 33 inches ( 83.82 centimeters)
1: Do you have snow? How much?
Some.
2: Do you drive an automatic or a standard?
Standard.
3: Why do you choose to drive your above answer?
The other is not really an option - they don't really sell many of those over here, and since everyone has to learn to drive with manual transmission if one wants a real license, it is no bother for anyone. I suspect the control issue is involved too, though, even if it is an illusion. Oh, and if I try to drive an automatic, I am a traffic risk... going for the clutch at first sign of something unexpected is just something that one does. given that the pedal on the left instead is the break, bad things will happen.
4: Where do you live?
Sweden.
5: Add a question of your own.
automatic/manual really makes little difference in snowy conditions, what is more interesting is tires... what tires are you using? are they in good condition? How old? etc...

Or people who like to actually be in control of their cars. Automatics are sloppy.

Acceleration is useless in automatics. I don't know why people even try to argue this.

I don't understand why its useless in automatics. I accelerate just fine.

As I said before, its a question of preferring control, not of "needing" it.

More control is better because, as you say, you know what's coming up on the road.
