How many "black" people do you know that are truely black? Danu Send a noteboard - 13/01/2010 05:10:44 AM
Though I have seen a some people who could truly be described as Black; many if not most are the color of coffee with cream added. Some with just a touch of cream and others with more cream, yet they are still "Black". Dark skinned, yes but black? Not so much.
Maybe that is why many feel "African American" is more appropriate?

I don't know what the better word or term is for describing people of "black" (as opposed to white South African) African decent who are Americans myself.
