i still don't know what you mean by "let up after the whistle..." 

Think about it, man: They posted the stat when Favre went out saying he'd been hit 10 or 11 times. But never sacked. Not once. In the entire game. This tells us two things:
1) They were definitely getting there; they almost took Favre out of the game at the end, and anyone else probably wouldn't have come back, even in an NFC Championship.
2) They NEVER got there in time to make a tackle, which means they were getting there LATE! A lot. Say, about a dozen times...?
Maybe it was just crowd noise and they genuinely didn't hear the whistles; it was 10-20 decibels louder there than it is where I work, and federal regs require we wear earplugs. But when you tell me their DC was apprenticed to Buddy "$500 to whoever breaks Aikmans leg" Ryan... well, Darth Vader was an apprentice once, too....
