Actually, I'm not sure what you mean; it was intended as a pure hypothetical. - Edit 1

All I'm saying is that just because punching the other coach in the face doesn't get you an extra TD that doesn't make it right.

i'm pretty sure i know what you're talking about here, and i'm pretty sure it happened about EIGHTEEN YEARS AGO. jeez, let it go already. we all know buddy ryan is a foul degenrate, there is no need to hold a grudge beyond the man's ability to coach in the league.

also, just because someone may have coached under him doesn't automatically make them a foul degenerate either. buddy ryan earned his reputation as a brilliant defensive coordinator. he also earned his reputation as a sociopath, but the two are mutually exclusive. learning defense from a sociopath doesn't make you a sociopath as well, but it does make you a good defensive coach in the long run. knowing your recent history, i can't believe you still have this much pent up frustration in you for something that happened more than a decade ago...

Unless you mean Bounty Bowls I&II, and, no, I won't let it go. Trying to end peoples careers just because you can is SICK. I mean, the Cowboys were 1-15 that year; it's one thing to pile it on against an inferior team, but you don't have to TRY to cause injuries. I know there's a school of thought like that among coaches (thankfully not as bad as it once was, thanks to higher visibility) but that just makes it a communicable disease. And I think the guy coaching the Saints D has it. Making your opponents UNABLE to play doesn't make you a great coach, it makes you guilty of assault. I'm not likely to forget, but for those who know the story Aikman clearly alluded to it when Favre got hit after that handoff in the first quarter. Sure, he may believe in "letting them play" more than I do (OTOH, I probably remember his concussions better than he does, though I DO think QBs are coddled today. )

No, everyone whoever coached under Buddy Ryan isn't dirty any more than everyone who coached under Madden (and even by Raiders standards those were some of the dirtiest teams ever. ) However, if the shoe fits, wear it, and in this case there's some significant evidence against the guy. My recent history just makes that doubly offensive in Sundays game.
