I can see the theory behind it - a ban in January is unlikely to matter unless Chelsea are really struggling with injuries and badly need new players in so extending it to the summer transfer window makes it effective.
But a ban on transfers of that long is far too much for the crime. I'd guess the appeal will be a success and the ban will be reduced to January or completely overturned in exchange for a larger fine.
The signing up of every promising young player around Europe by the big teams is a real problem though and I would like to see something done. Just not this *considers* Okay, that's a lie, this is Chelsea we're talking about... they deserve everything they get
