Did you try a different USB port? - Edit 1

Alright, my cousin was having trouble with his iPod and my uncle's computer, and I tried to see what I could do, and I'm stumped.
When he connects his iPod to the computer, it'll bring up the usual "Connected, eject before disconnecting" screen. The computer will make that ding that says a device has been connected. Then, 1 or 2 seconds later, it will say that it's ejecting and the computer will ding that a device has been disconnected. It's ejecting itself. After it ejects, it'll bring the iPod main menu back up and shows that it is charging up in the top corner.
I've tried to rule out as much as I could. I restarted the computer (multiple times), reinstalled iTunes, rebooted the ipod by holding the center and menu buttons down at the same time, manually put the ipod into disk mode, tried a different usb cable, and tried a different usb port.
I even brought my iPod down, to see if it was just his iPod. My iPod connected fine the first time, and then was sporadically after that. It did connect a few times, but more often than not my iPod started to eject itself the same as his. My iPod works fine on my laptop and desktop at home, it's connected right now as I type this. I also use my iPod kind of like an external hard drive, so I've connected it to other people's computers and it's never given me problems. His iPod works fine on his laptop at his house, every time.
Both iPods are 80-gig iPod classics. To make things stranger, my uncle did say that his Sansa Sandisk mp3 player works fine, and that my other cousins' iPod nanos work fine on that computer. I didn't check for myself though.
I searched all through apple.com's support pages, and changed the letter of the drive that gets assigned to my iPod one of the times it was connected and working.
I've googled the problem, and saw it mentioned in a few forums, but didn't see anything that seemed to work. Has anyone ever had this problem or can anyone see something I'm missing?
