Classical music and trance Artsapat Send a noteboard - 08/03/2010 08:02:02 AM
The Dutch North-Netherlands symphonic orchestra (NNO) played work by trance DJ (on several occasions named the best DJ in the world) Armin van Buuren last Friday.

The link below is to the Dutch classical radio station that organized the event. Reading the comments people both from the trance persuasion and the classical school listened to it live and utterly enjoyed it. In the comments there are testimonials from a couple in their 70's that loved it, but also of teens that just HAD to see this. I'm listening to it now (a great fan, if not a real knowledgeable listener, of most music styles) and I love it.

I love crossovers like this that can bring people together that normally don't mix. AWESOME! I don't think I can pimp this enough the coming months. If it would only introduce one person to classical music and encourage that person to listen to it more, or one person to check out what trance music (or any other style for that matter) has to offer, this is a resounding success.

These links (can't vouch for them myself, as I have only got them from others - so link and download at your own risk, I used the last one and that seems to be working fine) contain registrations of the concert. It's a download of the complete program, so it starts with an interview with the director in Dutch and probably also contains more stuff that you might not need, but it's a good start.

*EDIT: Don't look at it properly: The radio 4 website also contains a live registration with video!
The mystery deepens... I think. *MySmiley*
