Saying (convincingly) that you were breaking in because of a fetish, and weren't after valuables, seems like an awfully convenient cover-up. I can't think of any other reason for this guy to go on the record and speak about it. I mean, he seemed unusual, but not particularly disturbed, and normal people just don't chat with reporters about their fetishes. This could well have been a typical burglary attempt, with the guy just trying to get out of his charge now.
