So, fun times here in Jersey. Massive flooding this weekend out of the blue. I live near a river, with an overflow channel between the river and my house. Well, news came down the pipe on Sunday that a damn broke at a reservoir upriver. My entire neighborhood started to evacuate, and at one point on Sunday afternoon, I was quite probably the only person left on the street. I, needless to say, did not evacuate. There were episodes of Angel, Season 5, to watch, and I had to cleanse the planet Kronos of Chaos heretics and foul xenos to make it safe for the Imperium. And the rivers rose, with even the overflow filled up. I went on the railroad trestle bridge to laugh at the floodwaters, and see if anything was left of the man-made wetlands on the other side. I remained high and dry the entire time. Turned out the damn did NOT break, just had some water spill over the top. I really should have taken advantage of the opportunity to loot my neighbors' homes to teach them a valuable lesson about the costs of cowardice and paying attention to the government. But Smile Time is great no matter how often you watch it, and I got to enjoy some delicious honey-wheat pretzel sticks. And there is nothing better than the satisfaction of being right.
