Any hockey fans around? What's your opinion on the whole Coyotes situation? Chas Send a noteboard - 04/09/2009 06:35:52 PM
Personally I'd rather see the Coyotes stay in Phoenix. But that's not really a realistic option seeing as how whoever ends up actually buying the team (and I highly doubt that Balsille will actually succeed) will end up moving it because they won't be able to make any money by keeping the team there.

And all the dirt that is coming to light about the internal workings of the NHL, especially when it comes to new owners, is really not good for the future health of the league. I mean, you've got the circus going on in Phoenix; turns out one of the new owners in Tampa embezzled money to cover his share of the team; the Predators were sold to a guy who has no money: the Atlanta Thrashers owners have been suing each other for years, though I guess that is now settled; the owners of the Stars and Habs have borrowed so much money that one of them is already selling and the other might lose the team to cover his debts; the owners of the Ducks and Senators got nailed for securities fraud.

Maybe it's just because I really only follow hockey closely but I haven't run across anything like the above in the other major North American sports.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about and want to know more, see the link. It's a short link filled rundown of the Coyotes situation.
