McNabb is younger than Elway was when Shanahan got to Denver. Let's see, aging superstar quarterback who hasn't lived up to expectations and can't win the big one. Sound familiar?
Though in all honesty I think McNabb has often had a better supporting cast than Elway usually did. The game's won in the trenches though and, at least offensively, Shanahan understands that. Recent history indicates he's a bit deficient defensively, but he knows how to move the ball.
