He was recommended to be defrocked, and he was. It's a process like anything else. He even left the Church. Not to mention His Holiness was not even in charge of this situation when it began. There's no cover-up, no one is hiding anything. The reason for that is, of course, because the Church did nothing wrong. They received a report of wrong doing, followed through with an investigation and subsequent defrocking of the individual involved. Should the Church have gone farther and reported him to the Police? Yes, absolutely. Is that a system that the Church will be adopting now? Yes, certainly. So what's the problem?
And as for anyone calling on the "Pope" to resign, that is absurd. Popes do not resign. They're not Presidents, they're not Protestants. It's not an office that you can simply take up and abandon at will. And even if it were, His Holiness has done nothing to merit such calls.

Future Pope stalled on removing child molesting priest, even though the Bishop wanted him defrocked

The Pope should resign and the Church needs to reform itself.

They're only ad hominem when the target is a human being, so that wasn't. *NM*

And so the problem of having a theoretical ultimate power in anthing shows itself.

There is a power greater than Benedict/Ratzinger, a power greater than the pope on earth

I find their continual insistence that nothing inappropriate on Ratzinger's part occured sickening.
