I'm not much of a camera guy, but I do follow tech blogs a lot, and the Panasonics seem to be very well thought of across the board. I really don't know costs or specific models, but the Panasonic reviews are all very positive and have generally praised their video capture abilities in comparison to other DSLR cameras out there.
