MEDIEVAL II: TOTAL WAR (decent), its expansion KINGDOMS (very good) and the mods WESTEROS and THIRD AGE: TOTAL WAR (both brilliant and free).
The PC version of JADE EMPIRE (2007) is brilliant, far ahead of the X-Box version.
If you have HL2 on console, I assume that means you have EPISODE 1 + 2 and the mighty PORTAL as well?
I'd recommend CRYSIS, especially if you want to give your machine a work-out and amaze everyone who sets eyes on it.
The two CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK games are great. The new one, ASSAULT ON DARK ATHENA, also includes the first one, ESCAPE FROM BUTCHER BAY, in an upgraded form. Both are excellent, even if you're not a big fan of the films.
MONKEY ISLAND SPECIAL EDITION

Remember to grab MAFIA II and THE WITCHER II when they both come out in a few months. CIVILIZATION V as well, although CIV IV is available now quite cheaply and is excellent.
OBLIVION and FALLOUT 3? FO3 is superior, but OBLIVION is vastly improved by the addition of mods.
I really enjoyed COMMAND AND CONQUER III and its expansion, KANE'S WRATH, but they're not universally loved.
WH40K DAWN OF WAR II and CHAOS RISING?
I amuse myself.
So, I haven't been able to play a new PC game in about 5 years
