StarCraft was 30 missions, Brood War was 27 (28 if you count "Birds of War" and "Ground Zero" as separate missions), Reign of Chaos was 32, The Frozen Throne was 24 (plus the Tower Defence bonus stage and that Rexxar thing).
So yes, around 90 missions would have been much too long.
Besides, you're playing it on normal. Of course it's over fast. There's even an achievement for completing the campaign under eight hours in Normal.
