Halo Wars was fun. It's not the best RTS ever, but it was a pretty good for a console.
Borderlands is lots of fun. It's like an FPS Diablo. Good on its own, but tons of fun with friends.
If you like JRPG's, there are a few to try to see how you like them.
Final Fantasy XIII has a long story split into 3 discs. Some fun characters, fast paced battles. It does have lots of short videos through out the whole thing though.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope was lots of fun. Good story. Good fight system. Level Cap of 200 (255 if unlock enough trophies for a character). Really good item creation system (though annoying to get some of the more rare items.)
Also, you can get Phantasy Star 2 on XBOX Live. Old school RPG from the Genesis era.
There are a couple of indie RPG's that are old school too. Breath of Death VII is an RPG that is a parody of RPG's.
Aphelion is a sci-fi rpg.
Tom Clancy's End War was a different type of RTS where you can use voice to control units.
