Single-player campaigns just help sell it. 
I'm actually running a bootleg of the game now (no multiplayer) because I wasn't sure what region I wanted to get for multiplayer/battle.net
I assume you're all on the North American server? Technically I would probably get better performance on the Asia/Australia/NZ one, but then I wouldn't be able to play with as many people.
