Aldaris may well be my favourite character in StarCraft. Fanatic-Templar Send a noteboard - 16/08/2010 04:37:00 AM
What I'd love is for Kerrigan and Raynor to be hanging out in some Zerg area. That way the environment will be fitting, and we get to see Raynor uncomfortable with the fact that everything is gross. As for Zerg characters, yeah, Blizzard kind of shot itself in the foot with that one. Maybe Kerrigan will be able to make some cerebrates. Hell, maybe after being cured she'll HAVE to.

Or maybe something wonderful will come out of left field and we'll get a sentient, psyonic Ultralisk. :D

I don't think her still being partially infested diminishes her regaining her humanity. I just hope it isn't some lame "fight the disease inside her" bullshit. So I have hope.

There are possibilities, there's no use in being cynical :P. But personally, I wouldn't like to continue with Raynor. After Wings of Liberty, he's far too Terran.

What I'm afraid of is that the vaguely Islamist Protoss fanatics will be seen as a good enough enemy. Just because they're the same enemy in terms of game mechanics doesn't mean they're interesting. I want an Aldaris to go up against.

The Tal'darim are completely faceless. There is some backstory to them, but they're essentially just there so you have Protoss to fight in gameplay, they're otherwise meaningless. I wish Ulrezaj had made an appearance to show that he's still behind the Tal'darim, that would have given them a direct link to the Hybrids and a reason to be interested in them.

Now there's a character I wouldn't mind seeing come back.

He had actual character development. His apology and admission of wrongdoing at the end of StarCraft really endeared him to me. Where Mengsk ended up "I will rule this sector or see it burnt to ashes around me", Aldaris and the Conclave really do want the best for the Protoss, they were simply misguided and close-minded. In this last message, Aldaris demonstrates that he has realised this. Better yet, in Brood War he is gracious towards Zeratul and Raszagal (until he realises that Raszagal is controlled by Kerrigan) and defers to their judgment. He seems to have abandoned his self-righteous zeal and is constructive and insightful help.

It's the most significant, reasonable and well developed character shift I've seen in the story, I believe (Kerrigan doesn't count, she doesn't undergo character development, she undergoes radical character replacement.)

Even linking the Tal'darim to him would improve them. They felt so hackneyed. - 16/08/2010 08:49:59 AM 625 Views
