Hey fujitsu aren't that bad Roland00 Send a noteboard - 21/09/2010 09:57:04 PM
and for old fashioned tablets with both keyboard and tablet, fujitsu is one of the better ones.

That said tablets with both keyboard and tablet are big and bulky, and the digitizers are nowhere near as precise as they should be. Sorry you regret your decision.

------------------------------

And my computer is not a fujitsu but instead an Acer Aspire AS1410-2801 Sapphire Blue SU2300. The su2300 is a dual core processor with core 2 duo technology made on intels 45nm process. It is a 11.6 inch (1366x768 resolutoin ) and has 2 gb of memory thus it is a hybrid between a proper laptop and a netbook (it is about twice as fast as an atom netbook). Got it for $349 last year when a local retailer had the computer on sale. Sadly they don't make it anymore, but it is a great little computer and is perfect for school. You can find similar computers for 400 to 600 if you know where to look.

If you are looking for a new laptop (you said desktop, but just throwing it out there) AMD has a new architecture coming out this christmas, using different factories than their standard ones. It is meant to compete with the computers in the 300 to 500 dollar range. Since it was designed with low power in mind you will find computers with it in the 10 to 13 inch range that are light and portable. These computers are going to be dual cores, and have an integrated graphics that can play many games (see below). The "bobcat" cpu is going to compete with the atom, while the "zacate" cpu is going to compete with my laptop. Now cpus have thermal envelopes which determine the size of the laptop it can be put inside, how cheap the laptop is too make, and to some extent the battery life of the computer, here is how the new amds break down.

*"Bobcat" is a 9w cpu for both cpu and graphics. This is the lowest power for the new AMD chip. The new atoms (but not the old atoms) are more or less 9w TDP
*"Zacate" (the one you see benchmarked below) is an 18w cpu for both cpu and graphics. Some people call this thermal envelope (U)ltra (L)ow (V)oltage. These cpus are in more expensive thin and lights and a lot of business computers. They have the performance of 50% or 2/3rds there bigger brethens.
*Most laptops are either 25w or 35w cpu. Your cpu is either going to be a 25w or a 35w. (If it has a T in the name it is 35w, P for 25w). These are the standard fast cpus, in this market Intel has ruled and completely dominated. AMD is not releasing anything new in this market for the next 6 months, while Intel will be releasing their new architecture called Sandybridge sometime probably in February (it is expected to be 20% faster or more from the current I series which is at least 40% faster than your current laptop, with laptop graphics about 3 to 4 times faster than what you currently have.) Now in the 2nd half of 2010 AMD will release something for laptop called Llano, Llano will be more or less as fast as the current high end AMD mobile cpus, the difference though is they are going to have an awesome graphic card built into the cpu (something about 3850/4650/5570 speed).

Here are the benchmarks I referenced.
