I want to know what more than half the words in a post like this mean. Maybe I'll take that class at the community college some time.

I learned most of my tech know-how from friends who knew (and continue to know) more than me. Also, reading tech articles can help once you have a basic understanding. I don't pretend to know the full-on nuts & bolts like Roland, tho. The same goes for my good friend that works at an electronics store.

I'm not naive enough to rate my tech level as 5/5 on Newegg. Maybe 3 - 4 on an accurate scale. I order & build my own PCs, but won't pretend to be an expert or know exactly how it all works. Knowing about and knowing how are two different things.

Most of what I know, I learned through browsing forums and reading reviews at places like anandtech and overclock.net

I also won't pretend to know exactly how this stuff works, my understanding is rather basic to be completely honest. I feel like I know enough now to make decent head to head comparisons for most components, though.
