I was specifically responding to this line which, incidentally, was the only line in the post:

"You would expect the plot to be particularly good, then, compared to the plots written by game designers themselves."

I've never played the Witcher. I am in no position to comment on whether the story is any good, and I certainly don't want to imply that all game writers are good at what they do, or that all game writers are better than all novelists at writing in the game industry, or anything of the sort.

But I AM responding to the implied sentiment that we should automatically expect a novelist to be able to come into a game project and do a better job at "writing" in this medium than a dedicated game writer, or a game designer who understands how their writing will interact with the rest of the game.

And Legolas, if you read this: I totally understand why you would make the sort of assumptions that I think you've made. Looking down at game writing is a broad societal problem that leads to widespread misconceptions like that, and any heat in my post wasn't really directed at you.
