I've used VirtualBox a lot, but mostly in the past, so I'm not sure how much I remember. The problem is probably that it doesn't recognize the USB port at all, which is the case by default. There's something in one of the menus at the top about enabling USB in the guest OS. I wish I could remember the exact option, but I don't remember it being difficult. I'm sure you could google for a guide.
