Honestly, though... I think the Kinect is actually pretty neat. Not neat enough to use it for all games, but neat.

The hardware is only slightly more "advanced" than what the Wiimote does, but the software and human recognition is impressive. Then again, it's easy to say something's neat when it wasn't my money being spent on a new console & peripheral... Plus, the next Kinect would ideally recognize more than 48 points of motion, allowing for finer things like wrists, fingers, for finesse swordplay and such. That's when the tech might be worth using for "real" games, IMO. Not quite yet.
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
