It's all about the games, and we haven't seen those yet. But I have some concerns. lord-of-shadow Send a noteboard - 08/06/2011 02:59:27 PM
1. Battery life. That controller is going to be a battery-sucking fiend.

2. The controller itself looks unbalanced, and the placement of the face buttons right underneath the right control-stick looks like it will require strange shifting of the hand. Normally it's just a matter of swiveling your thumb in an arc, but an arc - the natural motion - won't work here.

3. Price point of the controller. Now, depending on whether the system supports multiple controller simultaneously (so far we've only ever seen one at a time), this may or may not be a problem. The system will come with one, so the first controller's cost is included with the cost of the system. But additional controllers will likely be expensive as hell.

4. Not a single first party game shown, and only one exclusive 3rd party. Now, these exclusives will be announced eventually, but as of now there really isn't much for me to be excited about.

At this point, I'm expecting this to basically be Nintendo as they have been for the last few years. I'll buy the system for a few of the must-have 1st party titles, enjoy the brief period where 3rd party games look best on it (until other companies' new consoles come out), and then it will likely plateau and not see much use outside the couple 1st party games I get a year.

On the other hand, I am becoming more and more disillusioned with traditional games, so if this offers good alternative experiences, or good party games (something this entire generation has severely lacked, outside of Harmonix's offerings), I might end up lavishing it more attention.

It's still not something Nintendo wants. - 08/06/2011 08:02:01 PM 675 Views

Heh. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was a bad console. - 09/06/2011 07:24:48 AM 809 Views

Only one Wii U controller per system. That's a big downer, IMO, even if they'd be pricey for 2+ - 10/06/2011 04:04:43 PM 746 Views

I think it uses Wii remotes with pointer controls. Not sure though. - 10/06/2011 08:39:12 PM 553 Views
