Honestly, yes -- nearly every game has at least one friend. (PC) It's best played that way.

I can understand your frustrations, since you're:
1) Using a controller (yuck)
and
2) Playing with pick-up strangers -- Every so often I'll end up with a decent experience, but you never know what you'll end up with.
